New Delhi, April 1 -- The Election Commission of India on Wednesday conducted a comprehensive briefing for Central Observers deployed for the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala and the union Territory of Puducherry, stressing the need to ensure free, fair and inducement-free polling on April 9, 2026.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners S S Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, chaired the review meeting, which was attended by 282 Central Observers and the Chief Electoral Officers of the three poll-bound regions via videoconferencing, the poll panel said in a press note.
