New Delhi, Sept. 7 -- The Election Commission of India on Monday announced October 6 as the date for polling to six vacant seats across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, West Bengal and Assam, with counting scheduled for October 9.
The bye-elections will be held for five Assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha constituency. The Election Commission said the formal Gazette notification will be issued on September 9, while September 16 will be the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on September 17 and candidates can withdraw their nominations until September 19.
