Bhubaneswar, May 27 -- On the occasion of World Schizophrenia Day, experts shared that schizophrenia is a treatable psychiatric disorder and can be effectively managed through early diagnosis, scientific treatment, family support, and community participation.

An awareness and advocacy programme was organised by the Department of Psychiatry at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, Campus-2, Phulnakhara.

The programme was aimed at creating greater awareness about schizophrenia, reducing stigma surrounding mental illness, and encouraging timely diagnosis and treatment.
