Kolkata, Sept. 4 -- Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday defended the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) over the release of excess water amid concerns over the flood situation in parts of West Bengal, asserting that no embankment had breached and that the reservoirs were functioning properly.
"DVC is doing a very good job. Not a single embankment has breached. We do not have to put up with sandbags like before. If rainfall exceeds the capacity of a dam, water will obviously have to be released," Adhikari said while speaking to the media on the state's flood situation, the release of water by DVC and the recurring problem of Ganga erosion in Malda and Murshidabad.
