Chennai, July 29 -- Th: Tamil Nadu's Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Wednesday widened its probe into alleged irregularities in the state-run liquor monopoly TASMAC, booking former excise minister and DMK heavyweight V Senthil Balaji along with six others.
Simultaneously, officials conducted coordinated searches at 41 locations across the state in connection with what investigators describe as a long-running corruption network.
The searches began early morning at Balaji's residence in Karur, along with premises linked to his associates and the TASMAC district office. Raids were also carried out in Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode and the Nilgiris as officials sought documentary and electronic evidence.
