Kolkata, July 29 -- Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been appointed vice-captain of the East Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, capping a remarkable rise that has seen him break into the senior India team in recent months.

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan will lead the 15-member side in the prestigious inter-zonal red-ball tournament, which begins in Bengaluru on August 23.

The 15-year-old has enjoyed a dream run this season. After an underwhelming India debut on the tour of England, Sooryavanshi impressed in the T20I series against Zimbabwe, where he was named Player of the Series following a string of match-winning performances.
