Aizawl, Aug. 2 -- An Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) posted in south Mizoram's Lawngtlai district has been recalled after he was allegedly found intoxicated while conducting hearings under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, officials in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said today.
The officer, who also serves as the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai district, had been assigned to Borapansury village to hear claims and objections related to the 2026 electoral roll revision. According to CEO officials, he was found to be in such an inebriated condition that he was unable to discharge his official duties.
