New Delhi, June 26 -- In a major crackdown on organised gold smuggling, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has dismantled a sophisticated gold smuggling syndicate operating through Mumbai Airport and seized nearly 15 kg of foreign-origin gold worth around Rs 23 crore in coordinated operations across multiple locations.

The nationwide operations also led to the seizure of 45 kg of silver and the arrest of 15 persons allegedly involved in different stages of the smuggling network, the Finance Ministry said on Friday.
