Hyderabad, July 7 -- UAE-based Indian entrepreneur Dr Shamsheer Vayalil has extended a Rs 2.6-crore humanitarian relief package to the families of workers killed in the recent Emirates Road accident in Dubai, with each bereaved family receiving Rs 26 lakh.

Representatives from Dr Shamsheer's office visited the families of the six Indian victims in Telangana and Uttar Pradesh, as well as the family of the deceased Sri Lankan worker, to hand over the financial assistance and express condolences. The relief follows the June accident in which a workers' minibus collided with a stationary truck, killing seven people and injuring nine.
