Chennai, March 24 -- Doyen of Indian sports journalism S Thyagarajan, who had covered multiple Olympics and Asian Games, and a renowned hockey writer of the The Hindu, with which he was associated for over five decades, passed away here on Monday evening.
The entire Indian sports journalist fraternity has plunged into grief following his death, who was affectionately called as "Thyagu Sir" and was endearing to all and known for his affable qualities in teaching, guiding, moulding and encouragong young journos who rose to become prominent writers.
He was 85. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
