New Delhi, July 26 -- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday called on Income Tax Department officials to adopt a more citizen-centric approach, urging them to ensure taxpayers are not forced to navigate unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles for routine services.
Addressing officials at the inauguration of Aaykar Sindhu, a new 13-storey Income Tax office building at Mumbai's Nariman Point, Sitharaman said government authorities should make every effort to help citizens obtain services they are legally entitled to, while strictly adhering to rules and procedures.
