Hamirpur(HP), Feb. 16 -- Doctors in a Himachal Pradesh government-run hospital have performed a very rare surgery to give a new lease of life to a youth suffering from ankylosing spondylitis, a condition that had affected both his knees and hips.

Rajan Mankotia, 36, from the Nadaun area, came to the Orthopaedics Department at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College (RKGMC), Hamirpur, to obtain a disability certificateas he was unable to walk.

However, on examining him, Dr. Shikhar Dogra recommended knee and hip replacements. After receiving a few necessary medications at AIIMS, Rajan underwent a hip replacement at RKGMC Hospital, Hamirpur, in November 2024.
