New Delhi, June 11 -- Doctors at the Delhi State Cancer Institute (DSCI) on Thursday warned of the growing burden of fatty liver disease and its increasing association with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common form of liver cancer, while emphasising that many cases can be prevented through lifestyle changes and early screening.

Speaking at an awareness programme organised on the occasion of Global Fatty Liver Day, Dr Pankaj Tyagi, Head of Gastroenterology at DSCI, urged people not to ignore symptoms that may indicate liver damage.

"Right upper abdominal pain, indigestion, jaundice and unexplained weight loss should not be ignored," Dr Tyagi said.
