Bengaluru, July 10 -- Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday effectively settled the debate over the location of Bengaluru's proposed second international airport, announcing that the greenfield aviation hub will come up in South Bengaluru while making it clear that the project will prioritise minimal displacement and affordable land acquisition.
Chairing a high-level meeting with Infrastructure Development Minister M B Patil and senior officials, Shivakumar reviewed the progress of the long-awaited airport project, which is being planned to decongest the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), now India's third-busiest airport.
