Bhubaneswar, July 30 -- Former union Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Dillip Ray has urged the Central government to take all necessary steps, including providing additional land and financial assistance if required, to ensure that the Paika Rebellion Memorial at the foothills of Barunei Hill in Odisha is completed and dedicated to the nation within a year.

In a statement on Thursday, Ray recalled that the bicentenary of the historic Paika Rebellion was jointly commemorated by the Centre and the Odisha government, during which the construction of a grand memorial at Barunei Hill was announced.
