Kolkata, July 4 -- The political battle over the legacy of the July 21 movement intensified on Saturday after State Panchayat Minister Dilip Ghosh questioned the Trinamool Congress's claim over the event and accused the party of appropriating a movement originally led by the Youth Congress.

"July 21 belongs to Congress. Youth Congress workers had died in that movement. At that time, Mamata Banerjee was leading it as a Congress leader and she should say that she led that movement. After forming Trinamool Congress, she hijacked the movement. Why should that happen?" Ghosh said.
