Bhubaneswar, May 18 -- union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday reviewed the progress of the prestigious 'Paika Rebellion Memorial' project at Barunei in Odisha's Khordha district during a site visit with officials overseeing its construction.
Highlighting the historical significance of the Paika Rebellion of 1817, Pradhan described the armed uprising led by Buxi Jagabandhu against British rule as a golden chapter in India's freedom struggle.
He said the movement remains a powerful symbol of the self-respect, identity, and pride of the Odia people, adding that the sacrifices made by Odisha's brave sons inspired the wider national movement for independence.
