Mumbai, July 26 -- Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) state president Jayant Patil has described union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation as a victory for the students who led a month-long agitation against the government. In a social media post, Patil said students had "rebelled against the government" and endured police lathi-charges during their prolonged protest.
He said the resignation of Pradhan was the result of the students' struggle.
Patil, however, criticised the attempts by several union ministers, chief ministers, state ministers and ruling party MPs and MLAs to defend Pradhan on social media following his resignation.
