Bhubaneswar, July 1 -- Dhamra Port in Odisha's Bhadrak district has set a new national benchmark in India's maritime sector by recording the highest-ever dry bulk cargo discharge in a 24-hour period, underscoring its growing stature as a leading gateway on the country's east coast.
The port handled a record 1,32,365 metric tonnes (MT) of dry bulk cargo within 24 hours while unloading the Cape-size vessel MV ASL OTSL2, surpassing the previous national record of 1,27,867 MT.
The vessel carried 1,65,283 MT of coking coal from Queensland, Australia, for Tata Steel.
