Bengaluru, June 7 -- As Karnataka gears up for Rajya Sabha elections, the spotlight has shifted to former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, with the NDA yet to decide whether the JD(S) patriarch will get another term in the Upper House or make way for a BJP nominee.
The Election Commission has fixed June 11 as the last date for filing nominations, scrutiny on June 12, withdrawal of candidature on June 15, and polling on June 18.
The uncertainty surrounding Deve Gowda's candidature has triggered intense political speculation within the NDA, especially at a time when the BJP and JD(S) are seeking to consolidate their alliance in Karnataka.
