Deoria, July 21 -- A pall of grief has descended over Carmel village in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria district after 22-year-old sailor Abhishek Nishad was killed in a Russian missile strike near the Ukrainian port of Odesa, his family said.
The family received confirmation of his death on Monday evening from the shipping company's representative.Abhishek had joined the cargo vessel Golden Leo as a deck cadet on June 10 through Mumbai-based Ocean Grace Shipping Private Limited. The ship was reportedly transporting cargo from Ukraine to Syria.
According to his father, Kaushal Nishad, the vessel came under attack by three Russian missiles near the Odesa coast in the Black Sea on July 19. There were 18 crew members on board, and several, including ...
