Chennai, Aug. 21 -- The proposed delimitation issue triggered a heated debate in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Friday, with the ruling TVK, and the main Opposition DMK, AIADMK, BJP and PMK taking differing positions on the exercise which they fear would reduce the parliaemntary representation of southern states and diminish their voice in the Temple of Democracy.
During the debate on the demand for grants for Electricity, HR and CE and other departments, PWD Minister Aadhav Arjuna clarified that the government and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay remained committed to the delimitation resolution adopted in the Assembly seeking to maintain status quo and extend the freeze for another 25 years through Constitutional Amendments.
