Ranchi, June 27 -- The Jharkhand BJP on Saturday accused Opposition parties of creating confusion over the issue of delimitation, asserting that the exercise is a constitutional requirement aimed at ensuring balanced democratic representation.
State BJP spokesperson Mritunjay Sharma said delimitation is not a political decision but a constitutional process that should be undertaken in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution after the Census.
He said population growth has varied across different parts of the country over the years, leading to significant disparities in the number of voters across parliamentary and Assembly constituencies. Delimitation, he said, is necessary to ensure more equitable representation.
