New Delhi, June 1 -- A man who had been absconding for nearly nine years in connection with the murder of a woman allegedly killed for a Rs. 50 lakh insurance claim and property benefits has been arrested from Bihar, Delhi Police said on Monday.

The accused, identified as Chandan Kumar (46), was arrested on May 29 from Lakhisarai district in Bihar. Police also revealed that another accused in the case, Kundan Kumar, had died in 2018.

According to the Crime Branch, Chandan had been declared a proclaimed offender in 2018 in a murder case registered at Burari Police Station.

Police said Chandan, along with his brother Kundan Kumar and brother-in-law Kamal Kumar, was allegedly involved in the murder of Anita Devi (43) in August 2017.
