New Delhi, Sept. 1 -- Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Tuesday stressed the need to shift from a "waste to landfill" system to a "waste to wealth" approach, powered by source segregation under the new four-bin approach.
Addressing the inaugural session of a solid waste management workshop organised by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and IIT Delhi, Sandhu said Delhi generates huge volumes of waste every day and needs to learn from successful models such as Indore to build a cleaner, greener and "Viksit Dilli".
"With Delhi generating around 13,000 metric tonnes of municipal waste every day, there is a need to adopt modern, sustainable and practical solutions for effective waste management," the LG said.
