New Delhi, April 14 -- : Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Tuesday directed officials to conduct a feasibility study on introducing a Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) to tackle the growing burden of non-biodegradable waste in the city.
The move comes amid concerns over plastic and similar waste clogging drains, polluting water bodies, degrading soil, and contributing to air pollution through open burning. Chairing a high-level review meeting, Sirsa flagged the environmental and public health risks posed by unmanaged waste.
