New Delhi, July 16 -- Delhi Lieutenant Governor T S Sandhu on Thursday inaugurated the 48th Sree Jagannath Rath Yatra at the Lord Jagannath Mandir on Hauz Khas Village Road, describing the annual chariot festival as a living symbol of India's ancient civilisation and spiritual heritage while offering prayers for the health, peace and prosperity of the people of the national capital.
The Lieutenant Governor participated in the celebrations in the presence of saints, Dharma Gurus, and hundreds of devotees. He also performed the sacred Chhera Pahanra ritual by ceremonially sweeping the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra before the procession commenced.
