New Delhi, Sept. 2 -- Delhi government seized a vehicle carrying illegal cigarettes worth Rs 65 lakh during a routine inspection, officials said on Wednesday.
The consignment was caught during one of the night raids conducted by a team of officers from the Anti-Evasion Branch of the Department of Trade and Taxes.
Over 4 lakh units of imported South Korean cigarettes, often traded and smuggled in the Indian market, were being transported in the vehicle, violating the legal requirements applicable to tobacco products sold or distributed in India.
