New Delhi, April 15 -- A Delhi court has convicted a Jaipur-based art gallery owner for attempting to illegally export Shahtoosh shawls made from the hair of the critically endangered Tibetan antelope, marking a rare prosecution of wildlife crime in India.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate at Rouse Avenue Court delivered the judgment on March 12, 2026, in a case that dates back to December 2008, when a large consignment of suspected Shahtoosh shawls was intercepted at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
