New Delhi, July 7 -- Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Tuesday questioned the effectiveness of tree transplantation in the national capital, alleging that the survival rate of transplanted trees remains low and calling for greater transparency and accountability in tree conservation alongside the government's large-scale plantation drive.
In a statement, Yadav referred to the launch of the Delhi government's "Mission 70 Lakh Plantation Drive" by union Home Minister Amit Shah and said the initiative would be meaningful only if equal emphasis is placed on protecting existing trees and monitoring the survival of newly planted saplings.
