New Delhi, May 12 -- Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devender Yadav on Tuesday raised concerns over the law and order situation in the national capital, citing findings from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report for 2024.

Yadav alleged that Delhi recorded the highest rate of serious crimes among the country's 19 metropolitan cities and held the union Home Ministry responsible, as Delhi Police functions under its jurisdiction.

According to the Congress leader, over 2.70 lakh criminal cases were registered in Delhi during 2024. He claimed that the capital reported a high incidence of crimes such as murder, rape, dowry deaths, crimes against women, robbery, economic offences, cybercrime, and drug trafficking.
