New Delhi, June 12 -- At least three people lost their lives, and two others were in critical condition after a major fire broke out in a five-storey residential building in South East Delhi's Tughlakabad Extension this morning.
According to the police, the incident occurred during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
A team of Police Station Govind Puri is looking into the matter.
The police said a PCR call regarding the incident was received at 2:24 am. Local police teams immediately reached the spot and were soon joined by the SHO, ACP, additional DCPs and DCP of the South East district. Firefighters and emergency responders launched a rescue operation to evacuate residents trapped inside the smoke-filled building.
