New Delhi, July 10 -- The Indraprastha Vikas Party (IVP), which had emerged after 16 municipal councilors had parted ways from AAP last year, on Friday formally merged with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The leaders of the breakaway faction of the AAP, led by Mukesh Goyal, on Thursday evening approached the Delhi BJP chief Harsh Malhotra and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to merge their party with the BJP.
The merger happened with the approval of the party's top leadership, and Delhi BJP president and CM Gupta announced the merger on Friday during a press conference at the state unit office, where the IVP leader Mukesh Goyal and all the councilors were present.
