Lucknow, July 2 -- The southwest monsoon has finally arrived in Uttar Pradesh after a delay of nearly 12 days, bringing relief from intense summer heat, the Meteorological Department said on Thursday.

The monsoon entered the state on June 30 and is expected to cover most parts of Uttar Pradesh within the next two to three days, with continued spells of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds forecast across several regions.

Meteorological Department said, this time the monsoon was expected to arrive early, but due to a lack of favorable weather conditions, the system which had been active over the Bay of Bengal, remained stalled near the Bihar border for nearly two weeks.
