Taipei/Washington, May 27 -- A $14 billion US weapons package for Taiwan approved by Congress remains stalled as uncertainty grows inside the administration of Donald Trump over military priorities and shrinking stockpiles following the war with Iran.

The delay has triggered security concerns in Taipei and among defence officials across the Indo-Pacific, where governments increasingly see tensions simmering with China, in one of the world's most dangerous flashpoints.

Taiwanese officials say continued arms deliveries are essential not only for the island's defence, but for maintaining stability across the wider region.
