Chandigarh, May 19 -- A defamation case filed by Amandeep Kaur Arora against Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal came up for hearing in a court in Punjab's Moga on Tuesday, with the legislator appearing before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) court of Ashima Sharma to present her submissions.
The case pertains to an alleged remark made by Maliwal against Punjab legislators of the Aam Aadmi Party, in which she reportedly referred to them using the expression "sheep and goats", triggering a political controversy in the state.
Maliwal, who recently parted ways with the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, has faced criticism from Punjab AAP leaders over the alleged statement.
