Thiruvananthapuram, April 24 -- Kerala Health Minister Veena George has issued a high alert over the possibility of a rise in cases of Amoebic Meningoencephalitis during the summer season, urging the public to remain extremely cautious while using water sources.
The minister warned that bathing or washing the face in contaminated water should be strictly avoided, as the infection is linked to unsafe and poorly maintained water bodies.
Government departments have been directed to intensify monitoring of water quality in public spaces and ensure that wells, storage tanks, and swimming pools are regularly cleaned and properly chlorinated.
