Davangere, Sept. 6 -- Police conducted an intensive check of the Bengaluru-Chhattisgarh train at Davangere railway station following information about suspected illegal Bangladeshi migrants travelling on board, officials said on Sunday.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Police carried out a surprise inspection of some coaches after the train reached Davangere late Saturday night. Passengers were screened and their identity cards and other documents verified.

The checks followed information provided by Hindu Jagran Vedike activists about the presence of suspected illegal Bangladeshi migrants on the train. Police also kept watch on more than 10 youths and a woman travelling on the train.
