Davanagere, June 5 -- In a significant counter-terror breakthrough, Tumakuru police have arrested a 22-year-old man from Davanagere for his alleged role in a suspected terror conspiracy linked to operatives of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), intelligence sources said on Friday.
The accused, identified as Zameer Khan (22) of BDI Layout in Davanagere, was detained at Davanagere railway station and subsequently shifted to Tumakuru for intensive interrogation, police officials said.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Khan was in sustained contact with suspected terror handlers identified as Shahbaz Bhutti and Rana Unen through encrypted social media platforms, including WhatsApp and Instagram.
