Bengaluru, June 5 -- Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on Friday congratulated Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on assuming office and expressed gratitude to the state and its people for their longstanding support and hospitality towards the Tibetan community living in exile.

In a congratulatory message, the Dalai Lama noted that Karnataka is home to more than 30,000 Tibetans, making it the largest concentration of the Tibetan diaspora in India.

He said the Tibetan community remained deeply grateful to the state government and the people of Karnataka for their enduring friendship and generous support over the years.
