Chennai, Nov. 2 -- Several parts of Chennai city, suburbs and Northern districts received heavy rains since last night reviving the Northeast monsoon activity as the Cyclonic Storm "Murasu", intensified as a Severe Cyclonic Storm, inched closer to the Tamil Nadu coast, then move towards Andhra Pradesh and cross the coast early tomorrow.
Under its influence, heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorm, lashed several parts of Chennai and adjoining districts. The spells were quite heavy and with more rains forecast schools and colleges were declared a holiday for the day in Chennai and Tiruvallur districts.
