New Delhi, July 25 -- India's top lawn bowls player, Putul Sonowal, continued his impressive run at the 2026 Commonwealth Games with a hard-fought win over the Falkland Islands' Cecil Alexander in the men's singles sectional match in Glasgow on Friday.

The match went all the way to a tie-break after both players won one set each. Sonowal edged the first set 7-5 before Alexander bounced back to take the second set 8-6. In the deciding tie-break, the Indian held his nerve and sealed the contest 1-0.

The reigning Asian champion will now face a Malaysian opponent in his next Section D match on Saturday.
