Chennai, Aug. 11 -- Officers of the Customs Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) seized 1.08 kg 24 carat gold valued at Rs 1.38 crore and arrested a woman passenger who arrived from Dubai at the Anna International airport here yesterday.

A PIB release today said the woman Indian passenger who arrived from Dubai was acting on targeted passenger profiling.

A personal search of the passenger led to the recovery of three oval-shaped capsules wrapped in transparent plastic, which were concealed inside her body. The capsules contained a substance suspected to be gold in paste form.

Following the extraction process, officers recovered a metal ingot that was subsequently examined and certified by an official assayeras 1,088 grams of 24-carat gold, valued...
