Mumbai, May 21 -- : Days after a roadside Cross near the historic St. John the Baptist Church in SEEPZ, Andheri East, was allegedly vandalised twice within two days, the Maharashtra State Minorities Commission (MSMC) has ordered a probe and sought status reports from the Mumbai Police and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The inquiry was ordered by MSMC Vice-Chairman Chetan K Dedhia after a delegation of members from the Christian community met him in Mumbai.
The Cross, situated along MIDC Road near the old church premises, was reportedly damaged in back-to-back incidents of vandalism.
Following the incidents, priests from St. John the Evangelist Church lodged a complaint with the MIDC Police Station.
