Mumbai, July 13 -- In a stinging indictment of the state's crumbling law and order situation, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar has called for the urgent implementation of the 'Shakti Act' following the brutal sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl in Mumbai's Pydhonie area.
Expressing his outrage over the incident, where a security guard allegedly assaulted the minor, Pawar stated that the lack of fear among criminals stems from the failure to deliver swift and consistent justice.
Pawar pointed to the recent sentencing in the Pune Nasrapur rape-murder case as a benchmark that is unfortunately not being met in every instance.
