Chennai, Aug. 27 -- CPI(M) Tamil Nadu State Secretary P. Shanmugam on Thursday wrote to Chief Minister Vijay seeking action against the Chief Secretary's circular and the Gujiliamparai Tahsildar over alleged attempts to prevent participation of students and youth in protests organised by Left parties.
In his letter, Shanmugam alleged that a circular issued (which was since been withdrawn) following a meeting involving the Chief Secretary and senior officials directed the School Education Department, Higher Education Department, police and district administration to work together to prevent students and youth from participating in protests by Left organisations and the Karappanboochi Janatha Party.
