Kolkata, June 8 -- Buoyed by its modest gains in the recently concluded Assembly election, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is preparing to launch a series of statewide agitations in an attempt to rebuild its mass base and regain public confidence in West Bengal.
According to party sources, the CPI(M) will discuss both its electoral performance and future course of action during the state committee meeting scheduled for June 23 and 24. The leadership is expected to finalise a roadmap for sustained movements against what it describes as the BJP-led Centre's anti-people policies, rising prices of essential commodities, increasing fuel costs, unemployment and the closure of industries.
