Chennai, Feb. 25 -- As condolences pour in with top National leader expressing deep anguish over the death of CPI stalwart and centenarian R Nallakannu, his body was shifted to CPI Party office Balan Illam in the city to enable the public to pay their homage on Wednesday evening.

101-year-old Nallakannau breathed his last at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital this afternoon after battling old age related ailments.

After leaders of various parties cutting across party lines visited the hospital and paid their final respects, his body, after emblaming, was shifted to the CPI office for public homage.
