New Delhi, Sept. 23 -- Communist Party of India (CPI) Rajya Sabha MP P Sandosh Kumar has demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that serious questions have been raised over the functioning of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, Kumar said the allegations concerning the functioning of the poll panel should be subjected to an independent inquiry.
The CPI MP claimed that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had recorded objections on at least 14 occasions over decisions related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the addition and deletion of voters, and data concerning Form 6 and electoral rolls.
