Agartala, Aug. 13 -- Former Tripura Power Minister and CPI (M) leader Manik Dey expressed concerns over the controversy that surfaced on smart electricity meters, citing rising bills and service-related issues faced by consumers without satisfactory explanations from Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL).

Dey highlighted the increase in complaints related to electricity services, billing, and smart meters since 2018, criticising the government's failure to address consumer concerns adequately and the conflicting claims being made.

The consumers don't have any problem with the installation of smart meters, but it is not giving satisfactory readings.
